Sound Familiar? Lupe Fiasco x Consequence Editon

Posted on July 9, 2011 by Ty Howard

Nothing but good music.

For some odd reason, I started playing Consequence’s Don’t Quit Your Day Job. Once track six started playing, I picked up on something that I still can’t believe I’ve missed all these years. Consequence’s “Pretty Little Sexy Mama” uses the same sample as Lupe’s “Steady Mobbin'”, which was featured on the infamous leaked version of Food & Liquor. Until now, I didn’t even know that Lupe’s track featured a sample (I know, right?). Who’s the lucky artist who had his song flipped for both tracks, you ask? Lamont Dozier.

I like Cons’ track, but I definitely have to side with Lu on this one. Of course, I’ve included all of the tracks for to check out yourself.

Lamont Dozier – “Trying To Hold On To My Woman”

Lupe Fiasco – “Steady Mobbin’ (Ghetto Story)”

Consequence – “Pretty Little Sexy Mama”
