Sound Familiar? Common x Kidz In The Hall Edition

Posted on November 4, 2011 by Ty Howard

This isn’t common knowledge.

There’s no doubt about it, Common’s “Sweet” is a pretty serious track. From Com’s aggressive lyrics to No I.D.’s signature production, the record is something hip-hop heads haven’t heard in a while. I can’t say the same for the sample, though. Rewind to 2008 and Kidz In The Hall’s The In Crowd album. Track’s nine and ten feature that very same sample courtesy of Double-0 & Black Milk. The sample? Doris & Kelley’s “You Don’t Have To Worry”. On Kidz In The Hall’s “Middle Of The Map, Pt.1”, we find Naledge and Fooch doing what they do best over Black Milk produced track, while Black Milk  & Guilty Simpson take a crack at Double-0’s interpretation on “Middle Of The Map, Pt. 2”. Of course, my question to you is who do you think worked that sample better? Take a listen to the tracks below and sound off, people.
