Chicago-based artists reflected lots of Grammy glory.

Along with Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco, who headed up the rap categories, R. Kelly received two nods for best R&B album and traditional R&B performance.

Kurt Elling was honored in the jazz vocal album category for “The Gate,” while Wilco was tapped for rock album for “The Whole Love.”

In the classical music field, Chicago indie label Cedille racked up four nominations for the disc “Mackey: Lonely Motel — Music From Slide” featuring local chamber group eighth blackbird (for engineering, production, small ensemble performance and contemporary composition). Pianist and Northwestern faculty member Ursula Oppens was honored in the classical instrumental solo category for “Winging It — Piano Music of John Corigliano” on Cedille.

Lyric Opera’s Andrew Davis was nominated for orchestral performance for Bowen’s Symphonies Nos. 1 & 2, recorded with the BBC Philharmonic.
