I know I tweeted about this earlier this morning, but on a serious note, people, this summer is really getting out of control here in Chicago.
When a headline reads: “4 Killed, At Least 8 Wounded In 6-Hour Bloodbath”, and the national media is reporting on it, I feel like it’s my duty to speak on this since I have a platform.
The senseless killing and violence that plagues summer in Chicago is nothing new, but this seems likes one of the bloodiest in recent memory. I just don’t understand how people have no regard for the lives of themselves or others.

Three men were fatally shot. One man was fatally stabbed. Police shot one man and at least seven other people were wounded by gunfire — including an 8-year-old boy sitting in his bedroom — during an especially violent six hours late Wednesday and early Thursday mainly on the South and West Sides…
…At 12:37 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot at 7935 S. Cottage Grove Ave, according to police, who said the shooting appears to have been over a $15 debt.
But seriously, shooting children? Killing someone over a $15 debt? These sensesless acts of violence must stop. There are plenty of positive organizations and events we could be attending and/or pushing others to attend, so please, let’s all work together on this.
I just wanted to say that. I don’t have the answers or the solutions, but I at least wanted to speak on it.
