Since 2012 is just over the halfway mark, FSD has decided to bring you some mid-year ‘best of’ content. Last week we hit you with our Top 10 Chicago Mixtapes of 2012 (So Far) list, so this week we wanted to highlight some of our favorite individual tracks of the year. But instead of just creating one blanket list, we wanted to let each writer share their favorites — so you can see a variety.
Now, we’re not saying these are THE BEST songs that the Chi had to offer so far in 2012, we’re just posting our personal favorites. This isn’t gospel, this is opinion — and by no means is it the end-all be-all. All FSD contributors will be posting their lists throughout the week, so check back each day for something new. Over the past six months, Chicago hip-hop has been on a roll — there’s no denying that. It was tough to choose just ten, but I narrowed it down to ten records that I haven’t been able to get enough of since January. Money Making Mikkey & both Lupe songs (especially Bitch Bad) are the best songs so far hands down. Unless, lyrics don’t count at all. Y’all even fronted on MERCY. smh. Your opinion is your opinion but that’s like saying you think Justin Bieber can play basketball better than D. Rose. It’s really that much of talent gap…But to some talent don’t matter either. Y’all might be trying to kill our culture on the sneak tip. Y’all didn’t even have SAVE MONEY on the list or Twistas Louie Gucci Prada. Fuck lyrics huh???, well Fuck YOU.
