Video: The Making Of Common’s “Kingdom”

Posted on June 24, 2014 by Andrew Barber

The promo trail continues for Com’s new album, Nobody’s Smiling, as today his camp unleashes the ‘making of’ video for his new single “Kingdom.” Com talks about hearing the sample via No ID (who produced the track), and then taking the beat back to Chicago to record at the famed Hinge Studios. Common also recruited a local choir to sing on the powerful track, and he opens up about why he chose to feature Vince Staples.

Speaking of “Kingdom” have you seen the video? The cinematography is super dope, and it’s classic Hype Williams. Great shots, vivid colors — the whole nine. I’m just trying to figure out the plot exactly? Is star of the video a girl? It looks like it, but does she use the restroom standing up? That’s the only clue it’s a dude. I don’t know, see for yourself.
