It’s been a while since any news has surfaced on Da Brat (and I know a lot of people forget she’s from Chicago), but apparently she’s putting her time in the Pen to good use – by hosting an American Idol-type talent show for inmates. I hope someone does “Give It 2 U” – that was my shart!
Incarcerated rapper Da Brat is putting her experience in the music industry to good use – she’s organizing a talent show for fellow prison inmates.
The Whatchu Like star, real name Shawntae Harris, is serving time in a detention centre in Alto, near Atlanta, Georgia after being sentenced to three years behind bars in relation to a club assault in October 2007.
But she’s keen to keep her cellmates entertained and is helping to organize Showtime at Alto, a talent show based on New York’s famous Showtime at the Apollo TV concert series.
According to Sister 2 Sister magazine, Da Brat has even had her pal Dj Nab send in some music to use at the show, which she hopes prison officials will turn into an annual event.
I guess we’ll catch Brat on the B-side when she gets out in 2010. Pow!
