Freddie Gibbs Dissects ‘Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik’

Posted on September 9, 2009 by Andrew Barber

The Smoking Section just posted up this dope feature on Freddie Gibbs’ latest release Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, where he gives a blow by blow (ayo!) of each track featured on the mixtape, and what went in to them.  Midwestgangsta is easily one of my favorite mixtapes projects of the year, and one that I recommend to all FSD readers.

2. “Boxframe Cadillac” — For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had an infatuation with ol’ school cars. I was born in the ’80’s, so the boxed up rides from that era stand vividly in my mind. My homie, Big Stymie (R.I.P.), had an ‘83 ‘Lac we all used to get in and smoke out. Quite naturally, I was already smoking when I made this song, so it put me in that mood.

Head over to TSS for the rest…
