Last night, Common and The Roots hit Chicago for their performance as part of the Hennessy Artistry series. Free Henny and hors d’oeurves for all (650?) attendees at the hottest new venue (I said it) in Chicago, The Shrine. The bill was ridiculous too, as Zoe Kravitz, Colin Munroe, Jeremih and Heavy D (yes, the Overweight Lover was in the building!) all took the stage with The Roots Crew backing them. No ID, David Banner, Anthony Anderson, Tim Meadows and many other celebs were in the house checking out the action.
I waited patiently all night to see if they’d play this one and sure enough, they went into it right before exiting the stage. On the real, I’ve been waiting 10+ years to see this live with Com and The Roots together. This is one of my favorite songs of all time and it’s one that’s always meant a lot to me.
The event was a huge success, and if this tour comes through your town, it’s a must attend. If my Vimeo and YouTube hadn’t been trippin’ all day I’d have more videos up. Developing…
