Congrats are definitely in order for our homie Jeremih, as his stellar album, Late Nights, has allegedly gone gold. Now, you know I swear by this album, and I don’t think a better project has dropped since this impacted in December, but there was a universal disappointment surrounding its release, as it only moved 14,000 copies in its first week. That number still makes me scratch my head in confusion, but I digress.
We can all agree that the actual release of the project was a mess (not to mention the maddening amount of delays), but it appears this story has a happy ending as the RIAA has certified Late Nights: The Album gold. How, you ask? Well, it appears streaming has played a major part in pushing the album to certification, due to the RIAA’s revamped qualifications.
The album has yet to show up on the RIAA’s website, but Headline Planet — a very credible source — has confirmed that it’s a real thing. Jeremih also announced the certification via his Instagram page.
Congrats to Jeremih, Def Jam and if you don’t have this album already, please go cop it (or stream it).

While not yet added to the RIAA’s official website, two gold album certifications were recently issued.
The recipients of those certifications? Chris Brown’s “Royalty” and Jeremih’s “Late Nights: The Album.”
First reported by Billboard, the distinctions confirm US unit totals of at least 500,000. Under the revamped album certification terms, one unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales, or 1500 track streams.
“Late Nights” officially arrived on December 4, 2015. “Royalty” was released on December 18, 2015.
