Well, they weren’t all Jordan’s, but you get the idea.
The Sun-Times is reporting that $160,000 worth of bogus Nike’s were confiscated in a raid of a South Loop store called E. Pretty Inc. on 626 W. Roosevelt. The culprit apparently had 1,700 pairs of bototleg Nike’s and if you wanted a pair you had to knock on the door three times. Treated.
Store owner Eng was arrested about 10:15 a.m. Friday when police entered the women’s boutique, E Pretty Inc., located at 626 W. Roosevelt Rd. with a search warrant, according to the release.
Police found 114 large cardboard boxes that contained counterfeit pairs of Nike gym shoes including Air Jordan and Air Force I styles that were valued at more than $160,0000.
Police visited the store earlier in the week after learning that a man matching Eng’s description was selling the shoes to selective customers who were instructed to knock three times on the rear door, according to the release.Following this procedure, police made a cash purchase of a case of 16 pairs of Nike Air Force gym shoes, according to the release. Eng also told the officers that he was expecting a large shipment of Nikes the same day.
An expert familiar with the sale and distribution of trademark products confirmed that the athletic shoes were indeed counterfeit merchandise.
