Preview: Twista – The Perfect Storm [Part 2]

Posted on July 8, 2010 by Andrew Barber

Two weeks ago, we brought you the first installment of our inside look into Twista’s upcoming album, The Perfect Storm, which is due out this Fall. Tracks 1-3 featured No ID, Traxster, Raekwon, Ray J and more; and really started out the album on the right foot. Here is a rundown of the next three tracks to expect from the GMG frontman.

Cocaine

Featuring Yo Gotti and Waka Flocka Flame, Produced by Streetrunnaz

This joint was ridiculous. The beat was bonkers and the verse from Gotti meshed perfectly with Twista’s flow. Gotti and T definitely have chemistry. You may be thinking “this is probably Walkin’ On Ice Part 2”, but that couldn’t be further from the truth – it’s not your typical Brick Squad collabo (not that that’s a bad thing anyway). Not sure what they sampled for the hook, but it’s dope. Keep an open eye for this track.

Panties Off

Featuring 3 Piece, Prod. By 3 Piece

Chicago R&B trio, 3 Piece, who are now rumored to be signed to Twista’s GMG, assist with the vocals and also produce here. One of those super smooth Twista records on the R&B tip. The ladies and gent can both appreciate this one. 3 Piece haven’t missed a beat on the pipes.

Hate In You

 Produce By Cuzzo

A mellow track from GMG DJ/producer, Cuzzo, that features Twista spitting ferociously over it. Another energized verbal attack over a beat that Twista can easily conquer. Six songs in and six songs solid.

I’m buying that next shit from the flea market… I’m a die hard Twista Fan but his shit been weak as hell. This is what he needs to do, Complete an album… not a mixtape album where each producer screams his name like he never made a record before and where all the features must introduce themselves before the track comes on… a complete album with one producer for the whole project… one sound, and very few features… if you do features make them Chicago only… give an album back to Chicago. Traxter… the album must only be produced entirely by The Legendary Traxter… but not that ATL bullshit; he been spending too much time there. Yea, you from THE city but if you’re not in Chicago when you record… both you and Twista then that is not a true Chicago Album… do the beats and rhymes all here… bend the blocks, get some city tickets, curse someone out, get chased out a neighborhood, cheif one, spend a night at garfield park… get that true Chicago state of mind then go record… true, we all have been effected by the industry and that will reflect in our life and inevitably our music… but you owe one to Chicago Twista… not this sweet shit either… fuck a club/radio banger… do it for the gang bangers who held you down when radio play wasn’t the goal, it was about gettin’ on and making music… the nigga don’t even rap fast anymore….step your game up Twista… next album i’m getting at the flea market off Division St. fo $2.00 until that point… and this is coming from a die hard twista fan who bought all his shit from best buy for $15.00… for real T… listen to your old shit and your latest shit… who was that nigga back then? definitely not the same rapper… fuck the fame T… Come back to Chicago… Twista & Traxter… Chicago for one good time… for old times sake. And no mixtape sounding shit, Trax got arrogant outta no-where, we know who did the track, producers need to keep their mouth shut and let the artist shine…. we all know who did the track, 10 years ago or so you would never hear Trax say, ” Traxster” on a song… i mean, he sound thirsty when he’s years in the game… You have officially fell off Twista. West Side.
