What’s Really G.O.O.D.?

G.O.O.D. Music circa 2010

Per the leaked scans from the all-Kanye October 2010 edition of XXL, it appears the roster of G.O.O.D. Music has changed completely.  While it was announced in the article that long-time Kanye associate Mos Def was joining the fold, many of G.O.O.D. Music’s original lineup weren’t so much as mentioned and I’m sure that left many scratching their heads.  Granted it’s been a long time since G.O.O.D. Music had (and lost) their original deal with Sony, and other members have set out to secure deals on their own (GLC with EMI, Consequence with Universal Motown), but damn, what happened?  No mention, no explanations?

It looks like Common, John Legend, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Pusha T, Mos Def, Mr. Hudson and CyHi Da Prince are what’s really G.O.O.D. now.  I believe they have a major label partnership deal on the table, so maybe that’s why others were excluded, but either way, the G.O.O.D. we once knew is no more.

What does this mean for the future?  Only time will tell.

Kanye’s XXL has the quote from CyHi Da Prince: “All that homeboy shit, that was when we were in the trap and we had to fight together… Now we need to make money and record hit records and put out good albums. Most of them labels who be all boys, all of them ain’t hot. They just hanging around.”
