The Cool Kids Are Now Free Agents

Posted on October 6, 2010 by Andrew Barber

After a long, stressful and strenuous court battle with their now-former label Chocolate Industries, The Cool Kids have been released from their contract and are officially free agents.

For those not in the know, the reason Chuck and Mikey hadn’t released a proper studio album in the past couple of years was because they were in label limbo with Chocolate, and with the case pending they had to remain hush on the subject.  Obviously, with their displeasure with the label, they had no plans to release any projects under said contract.  You may remember last Spring, there were talks of changing their group name to Chuck & Mikey as a loophole to put out an official release.  Well, with the case behind them, the duo is now allowed to drop more than mixtapes.  Look for them to secure a new situation in the very near future.

I got with Mr. Inglish for a quick statement and he had this to day:

We got screwed. We sued. We fought. We’re out.

God helps those who help themselves.

And there you have it.  Let’s have a toast…

I’m glad it worked in there favor. Seems like you gotta take it up the ass in the early stages of your career to hit the big time. Happened to Bump with Free Maiden, Twista, Mikkey, Ye still a slave albeit a famous rich one, etc. There is no real way to protect a “green” rapper anxious to get on. Anything goes. I’m just glad to see em free!

EVAN! “God helps those who help themselves” ?
You know Rawle has that as his answering machine message right?
And that if god was to help anyone who “Helped Themselves,” wouldn’t the square root of 49 live in MC Hammer’s house by now?

This is a good look for the Cool Kids as long as they go on to release there much anticipated debut album…show people their actual lyrical content, which by the way, is clearly underrated based on some of Mikey’ s latest solo efforts
