Lupe Fiasco Covers XXL’s May Issue

Posted on April 11, 2011 by Andrew Barber

About. damn. time.

I was just remarking to someone last week, that it was bullshit Lupe hadn’t landed on any major magazine covers leading up to the release of Lasers.  I mean, no shots at Wiz, because he’s doing his thing in a major way, but it appeared the promo and press he received prior to Rolling Papers was three fold that of Wasalu.  Lu didn’t have the cover of Rolling Stone, but he still outsold the rapper who did.  It’s time for the media to start holding him in the same regard as his A-list peers.  Just my humble opinion, of course.

This piece is sure to be a winner as I’m sure they have Lupe addressing any and everything:

While he might not feel comfortable making pop music, Lupe is confident with his skills on the mic; even going as far as calling himself one of the best lyrical MCs in the game at the moment. “I can actually make the argument, seriously, that, Yo, I’m better than all y’all,” he boasted. “You have people who can say that. Jay-Z can say that. Eminem can say that. Canibus can say that—if we are going line for line. If you want to relate me to the newer cats, let’s go. Let’s go line for line and bar for bar. If it’s all about spitting and metaphors and MCing and lyrics and entendres, I will eat 99 percent of you dudes up.”

I’ve been waiting for Lupe say this for years. None of these clowns can fuck wit this dude lyrically. Fuck all those fake ass rappers, Lil wayne, Rick Ross, with their ultra-violent lyrics…. They are destroying our youth…

Lupe reminds me of Rajon Rondo. Very feminine and kinda dainty.

Wow What? I didn’t say anything mind blowing. And since the numbers of his album sales were good, shouldn’t Lupe be apologizing to his label instead of dissing? After all, they are the ones that made him redo his album.
