In what could be labeled the most random (or ridiculous) hip-hop beef ever, Lil B took to CNN Radio last night to treat ‘Fest after El Che made a few questionable comments about B on Twitter. This can’t be life.
Will ‘Fest respond, or is it a bad look for an aspiring politician to jump in a battle? My opinion: Not in Chicago.
CNN: You’re big Twitter fan, and recently rapper Rhymefest tweeted that after he spoke to California artist Xzibit and listened to your music, his response was, “Homeboy needed a dad in his life.”
Lil B: I’m going to say, who is Rhymefest? So he needs to work on promoting and marketing himself, because I don’t know him. But what I feel about his comment is that it’s true, I needed a father figure in my life, but I’m not complaining about that. What do you mean, I need that? Tell Rhymefest I’m very happy. Tell Rhymefest I actually wake up and I’m happy, and I’m positive and I love people. Ask Rhymefest, does he feel the same way?
life ain’t all fun and games lil b, ‘fest is doing more than keeping himself happy but the people around him……..ON SOME REAL SHIT and not just making music people like.
I rather listen to a Rhymefest record than a lil b record any day
I wish there were more artist like Rhymefest in the music industry…
I’m not sure if that was really a diss? Maybe he really hasn’t heard of him. Chicago artists don’t seem to be capturing the market the way others are. I like Rhymefest and I like his music, I think he makes positive music and is a great influence for the community. However, that doesn’t mean his marketing couldn’t be better. I this day and age it’s all about presentation and SEO… It’s sad
The title of this post is misleading. I agree with James. Even though Rhymefest has been on the scene here since I was in diapers, people don’t know about him outside of Chicago. Matter fact, people dont really know of any underground chitown artists outside of Chicago (else than LEP of course). So no, Lil B was not dissing him, he was honestly giving him constructive criticism. An honorable comeback after Rhymefest obviously dissed him.
PS, I am no fan of Lil B’s music by any stretch of the imagination (nor Rhymefest for that matter) but for some reason he seems to have a good head on his shoulders
fuck lil b his music is shit, at least rymefest came from some real hip hop shit. chitown shit
fest was outta line in the first place tho
