I chose not to post the infamous Lupe Fiasco interview where Lu calls Barack Obama a terrorist, because I knew the press was about to have an absolute field day with it, and concentrate on that quote and that quote alone. Obviously I was right. If my Grandparents are asking me about it, it’s a major ordeal. All of the left and right wing websites and news channels picked up on the story, and almost instantly I was bombarded with emails from friends and associates who don’t even listen to rap: “Hey, don’t you know that rapper guy Lupe? He’s crazy!” At the Crown Royal/Big Boi event on Wednesday night no less than 8 people asked for my take on the issue, and I just kind of hit ’em with the ‘Kanye shrug.’ Seriously, I don’t know what the big deal is. Isn’t this what you expect from Lu? Isn’t this why his fans hold him such a high esteem? Because he speaks his mind and doesn’t hold back on issues he feels strongly about? Plus as an American, and he’s entitled to say whatever the hell he wants. Never mind that the Prez is from Chicago and is buddies with his pal Lonnie Lynn; Lu didn’t vote and wasn’t going. Speak on it? He did.
Today, Billboard caught up with Mr. Jaco to offer clarity on the comments. You still mad?
“It’s funky because everybody’s pulling soundbites from this one interview that we did, but they don’t talk about anything else from the interview,” he continued. “So it’s really about, ‘What do people want to listen to?’ It’s not what I want to talk about, cause I want to talk about all types of shit… there wasn’t the same reaction about me having a book club… about me trying to promote literacy in a country with 50 million functioning illiterates walking around, because we have a failed and flawed education system.”
“Voting doesn’t work, because everybody who voted, voted for the same people who are in office right now that are actually allowing these policies to go forward… You have to educate the populace — the masses, the voters, the people who don’t vote, the people who pay taxes.”
“You have educate the masses to exactly what their tax dollars are going to pay for,” Lupe continues. “I think once people educate themselves and open up their minds to understand that on that really basic level, then you’ll have some type of change in the way that Americans associate themselves and participate in their own political process.”
What Lu said is true…and people need to wake up and accept it…

Lu didn’t vote in the presidential election, but I do recall an interview in 2008 where he claimed to have voted in the dem primary… for hilary. Meaning, if Hilary is Obama’s secretary of state and in charge of Obama’s foreign policy…. that would mean in a way Lu DID vote for Obama’s terrorist policies. Ruh Roh! Lu’s a hypocrite.
