Video: Young DBoy Low – Gentrifications

Posted on July 8, 2011 by Andrew Barber

Henry from Project Spitfire contacted me about 6 months ago and told me about his cause and I was immediately with it. Project Spitfire is a youth violence prevention organization in Chicago, that gives at-risk youth the opportunity to write and record music. I’ll let Henry tell it in more detail:

‘Gentrifications’ is the first music video from Project Spitfire, a youth violence prevention organization here in Chicago that uses music to reach high-risk youth. ‘Gentrifications’ is by our artist Young DBoy Low, a 21 year old from the Low End on Chicago’s South Side. Along with DBoy our upcoming album will feature 10-15 tracks by young un-heard artists from the city’s most violent neighborhoods. Project Spitfire helps them tell their stories through music and spread awareness for this critical issue while also teaching them the ropes of the music industry.

You can learn more and follow us at www.projectspitfire.org.
Music Video directed by Sam Palermo.

DBoy you should get at me. You know I own one of the tightest labs in bronzeville, and enough hot tracks to record 3 cats everyday for the rest of they life. Not trying to step on any toes with whatever camp you’re with, but I can see a visonary in you, and would like to work with you. You remind me of younger version of a veteran Chicago MC named Negativity from a legendary group called Xplicit Behavior that I work with. I’d like to get the two of you together. How can you be reached?
