Chicago’s 26-Foot Marilyn Monroe Statue Vandalized By Street Artist

Posted on September 27, 2011 by Andrew Barber

An unnamed Chicago street artist has vandalized the 26-foot Marilyn Monroe statue at 400 North Michigan Avenue. This is the second time Marilyn has been vandalized since debuting this summer.

People really hate this thing, huh?

The unveiling of the 26-foot Marilyn statue this summer in Pioneer Court was met with some criticism of whether her up-flowing skirt and a clear view of her panties were appropriate for Michigan Avenue.

She also topped a list of bad public art and was tagged last month with a “tattoo” on her right leg…

…On Tuesday, red paint was found splattered under her dress on her right side and running down the front and back of her right leg.

Construction tape was placed around the statue.
