Last week, I was treated to an early listen of Now Or Neva by The Bogus Boys themselves and it’s definitely a project that’s going to solidify their status as two of the dopest doing it. I figured it was only right that I share a bit of what I heard, so hit the jump to get a short preview.
- “Streets Talkin'”
This joint is too tough. With Surf Club behind the boards, Count & Moonie proceed to address the street’s chatter in a matter that only they can do. Don’t want to give too much away, but this record is sure to ruffle a few feathers out there.
- “America’s Worst Nightmare”
This is definitely what horror movies sound like. Honorable C.N.O.T.E. provides some haunting production while the duo assert their status as America’s most feared. This track reminds me of “Don’t Feed Da Killaz” on steroids, but in a good way. Car speakers will get disrespected with this one.
- “Shorties Nowadays”
This was one of the most memorable tracks I heard. Painting a picture that most people are too familiar with these days (especially in Chicago), this joint is surely one of the best tracks I’ve ever heard from The Bogus Boys. I won’t give too much away on this either.
Other than the joints mentioned above, I caught an ear-full of a J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League-produced track titled “Last Chance” (which won’t be featured on Now Or Neva for unknown reasons), a trippy track featuring a Sidney Owens & North, South Connection sample and a few other joints featuring production from Frank Dukes, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and some dope up & comers. Despite what you may have heard, Now Or Neva isn’t an album even though it sounds like one. DFDK3 is a favorite of mine, but this new project is on a totally different level. If this what L.E.P. calls a mixtape, I can’t wait to hear what an album sounds like. Look for the project to impact in it’s entirety this Halloween.
I cant wait to hear they new shit…theses niggaz been holding it down!!! like Ross said i smell some money cooking!!!
i really hope they blow up on tv and hear em all over the radio stations with this one! does any 1 know if they gonna release a no dj version on itunes with this mixtape too?!
After all the hype, this is just another mixtape?????? Damn! I was really lookin forward to seein these brothers put out a complete polished full length album! Halloween will have many Chicago releases, too, this should be interesting.
