Hit the jump to see the goods…
1.) 2Pac Press Photo (1994)
I feel like this is the photograph that best defines Tupac. It just makes you think about everything he did with his life, and where he’d be if he was still alive today. Timeless. [Danny Clinch]
2.) Kanye West’s Rolling Stone Cover (2006)
It was only right for Kanye to pose as Jesus (and a black Jesus at that) after “Jesus Walks” was a big hit on the radio in ’04. But I bet it was more of David LaChapelle idea — but that’s why this photo works well. Because Kanye West and David LaChapelle are both controversial artists. [David LaChapelle]
3.) Crucial Conflict – Good Side, Bad Side [Album Cover] (1998)
This is a perfect, classic album cover photo. It goes with their music, style, and Chicago. I would hang this up in my crib if I had this picture. [Danny Hastings]
4.) Lil Kim – Hard Core [Album Cover] (1996)
This Lil Kim poster changed my life as a kid. At this point in time, no females in the rap game were selling sex like Lil Kim was. And his photo sold it well. [Micheal Levine]
5.) Lil Wayne GQ Magazine Photoshoot (2009)
Every rap artist has that one photo everyone knows them by, and this is one of them. Wayne has this as his Twitter picture. Simple and clean. [Terry Richardson]
6.) Outkast – The Love Below [Album Cover] (2003)
I remember when I first saw this photo, I couldn’t stop looking at. It’s because Andre 3000 dressed the way he sounds in his music. Good props always bring out a great photo. This photo wouldn’t be that dope without the pink gun, pink ring, and the pearls he has on. [Torkil Gunason]
7.) G-Unit Terminate On Site Press Photo (2008)
The first thing comes to my mind when I look at this photo is loyalty. I can’t even imagine 50 Cent without Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. A great picture to represent G-Unit. [Dave Hall]
8.) Jay-Z The Blueprint [Album Cover] (2001)
Perfect photo for the album title. Even tho the concept of the photo is not original, it stills works for Jay-Z. [Jonathan Mannion]
9.) Mos Def – The New Danger [Album Cover] (2004)
I think anyone will pick up and look at this album because of the cover photo. They may even buy it. Even if they never heard of Mos Def. Classic! [Peggy Sirota]
10.) Wiz Khalifa Press Photo (2010)
You can never go wrong with a black and white smoking photo. Not to mention, Wiz always looks cool when he’s smoking. [Mikael Jansson]
