With the long-awaited resurrection of Chicago rap finally coming to fruition, does the young rhyme slayer Chance The Rapper deserve to be in the round table discussion amongst the heap of other buzzworthy locales as the next big star out of the Windy City? Well, this rapper definitely has a chance. Conceptually based on a 10 day suspension, the young troublemaker turned his frivolous acts to a stellar mix tape debut.
The project starts off with the young rapper counting down his sentence literally with “14,000 Minutes.” He lays out the scene of the crime over the massive Louisiana horns, and shows no remorse for his wrong doings. On track two we see Chance get introspective about the loss of a close comrade in the melding tune entitled “Missing You.”
A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but Chance candidly admits “He’s burned too many brain cells down, to be worried about them now” on the somber “Brain Cells.” We now get into familiar territory with the blog favorite “22 Offs” which plays on a similar tune “22 2’s” from, well, you know who (for the younger kids I’m referring to Jay-Z). Now it’s only right this cool kid bumps into another Cool Kid, right? Well, the interaction between Chance and Chuck Inglish resulted in the not-so-bashful “U Got Me F#&*d Up” (The title probably inspired by his alma mater’s principal). I can definitely see more collabs between the two Chi-Town citizens.
What intrigues me about Chance is his vehement style, which doesn’t seem to awkwardly shift throughout the mixtape. We get to see Chance’s suave side on the heavily house-influenced track “Juke Juke” which doesn’t deteriorate his intense flow that we are accustomed to, but shows he can have a huge following with the ladies as well. We now land on “F&*k You Tahm Bout” — the song and video that opened our ears and eyes to the young fierce MC . We witnessed the histrionic personality of what seem to be a demonized figure (In a good way). I lost count of all of the different rhyme schemes after 14!

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE MUSIC TO COME OUT OF CHICAGO IN SOOO LONG. I LOVE CHICAGO!! BANG BANG!
He’s the best out of all the upcoming artist’s I’ve heard out of Chicago. His versatility and rhyming scheme skills are peerless. Chance is definitely a superstar in the making.
Quite frankly, Chance is amazing. He deserves all of everyone’s praise plus some…. He’s come a longggg way and he’s making his fans from the very beginning extremely proud. (: #10Day man. Doesn’t get better than that – YET.
I was an instant Chance fan as soon as i heard this mixtape. now i cannot stop listening to it. not only does it have bangers but it also has feel good hip hop and all the beats and production is great. Chitown is proud of this young nigga
#10day is that shit. Kembe X & Alex Wiley are extremely good wrappers too.
#10 Day is a classic, Chance has a unique midwest flow/sound that people will be able to relate to. From the hood to the burbs. Instrumentals and original music was very colorful and sound too. He just lifted the bar higher and made the game much more interesting. Savemoney Chance Therapper. Can’t wait for more
straight up fuck savemoney yall niggas hoes yall not on shit i already beat yall once. chance soft as hell get at them nigga
Feisty.
Always a hater involved in the mix…thats how you know he doing a good job.
Loved it. Phenomenal album, one of the best to come out of Chicago in a long time. 8/10
This album is sick. Chance has so much range it’s unbelievable.
All these lame ass niggas coming in here posting comments are fakes! Haha…. The mixtape was cool but I wouldn’t say the best out of Chicago. Go listen to Add-2. Now he is the best we have.
I Am A Big Fan Of Chicago Rappers And I Downloaded And Listened To This Mixtape 3 Times… I Must Say That Overall It Is A Decent Mixtape But I would Not Say He’s Next In Line To Carry Chicago… There Are Way Harder Mixtapes From Chicago Artist This Year Like, King Louie, Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Smoozilla,Sir Michael Rocks, And Rocky Fresh….
CHANCE…….. that nigha pretty cold. #10day, I enjoyed it because it showed us just how much you have grown. I first started listening when he came out with ‘Home Again’ and the I noticed there was something special. There maybe other great rappers in Chicago, but I do believe Chance is in the mix with those mentioned before.
#savemoney….. has shown they have a great bunch of young talent and for us to diss them is unfair. #savemoney’s Kids These Days (KTD) is why I started my band and practice so hard to be better. Now Chance is the reason I’m getting back at my music so hard.
I remember calling myself Anarkie in my youth, but now-a-days I feel I need to speak my greatness just as Chance and #savemoney does.
