FSD: With the “Wow” single surfacing on the streets, I’m assuming there is a project coming out?
Bo Deal: Yeah, I’m actually dropping The Chicago Code 3 next month. Major production, more major features on there. I didn’t do too many features on there, because this is the last Chicago Code that I’m dropping. So I really wanted to showcase me and give more of myself. It ain’t like a whole lot of features because I want people to know I can hold my own down. I don’t need a motherfucker to really make good music. I have a situation that Mizay Entertainment, who is putting something together right now with a major label, for Good Side, Bad Side. They want to make that a street album, and put four new songs on it, and put that out there. It will be my first national project to be in stores and all that.
So once the “Wow (Remix)” video hits, that will be my first national look on that type of stage with those artists all on one song. It will be on all of the national TV networks, so hopefully it should gravitate people to me, and we can pick it up from there.
FSD: Can you give us details on who’s producing on the album?
Bo: I’ve got Lex Luger. I’ve got Southside. I’ve got Lil’ Lody. Danye, DC the Beat Man. Actually, I’m supposed to get something from Jazze Pha. I got a gang of joints for the mix tape already. I got about 30 something joints recorded. I’m gonna a narrow it down to the top 16. So I don’t know which ones will actually make the cut, but I know I got tracks from all of those producers
FSD: What DJ will be hosting the tape?
Bo Deal: We’re going with the Trap-A-Holics. He started that series out. He was the first DJ to host a mixtape of mines that got over 100 and some thousand views on LiveMixtapes. It got like 80k on DatPiff as well. So I got to gang on downloads in a lot of different spots. And he helps you promote it. A lot of these DJs will host your shit and won’t put nothing to it. They won’t even tweet about it. I’m a team player, so everyone around me been around for years. I don’t switch up. When I find something that works, why switch it up? That’s like Andrew Barber; he rocked with me from day one. The first time I reached out to him on the internet, he showed me love since then, and been showing love ever since.
I wouldn’t give a fuck what blog sites is here. Im gonna rock with who I’m rocking with. That’s just me. Loyalty is everything. I will go on record saying that. Everybody that knows me, knows that.
FSD: What is the release date for the tape?
Bo Deal: We’re looking at May 8th — they want to do a double release with Waka’s ‘Best Of’ mixtape on LiveMixtapes. So we’re trying to get that look. So it’s probably going to be a double release next month. Right now we got May 8th locked in.
FSD: With the release of the Chicago Code 3 coming in a few weeks, are there going to be any other releases from the Ground Up family?
Bo: Well, Mellow G Blanca’s Pick of the Litter just dropped. Go on LiveMixtapes and download that. BFN, and Mac Mecca, my brother, just dropped on LiveMixtapes a couple of months ago called Head of the Class. Paper Boy’s Paper Route dropped around the same time as theirs, too. We’ve got Vi Lord’s It Is What It Is dropping soon. Eddie Lo’s Bi Polar, too. Those are the next two dropping.
FSD: In one word, who is Bo Deal?
Bo Deal: Real. A lot of people get the wrong impression of me. I’m one of the smoothest niggas you gonna run across. The biggest misconception about me is that I stay on bullshit. Man, I m trying to get money. I done been out here in these streets, I been in the penitentiary three times. I done been through a whole lot of bullshit gangbanging. That don’t get you no money. I’m trying make a way for my people. My people loyal, they’ve been around forever. We’re more of a family than anything else. The Killa Klan movement is real. I’m loyal to my people. I never switch sides. Ain’t no secret on what side I’m on.

Hi to Bo Deal’s interviewer,
I enjoyed reading the interview with Bo Deal. After following the local hip hop scene for several years as a photographer, it is nice to hear about the business itself and the context for the performances I attend!
Thanks,
