The system is consistently ranked near the bottom of mostly all minor league and prospect evaluators lists. The owner of the White Sox, Jerry Reinsdorf has been reluctant to spend on amateur talent in the draft and overseas. Although the Sox have been successful in plucking players from Cuba and in Latin America throughout their run as a playoff contender, they haven’t invested enough in amateur talent. A scandal involving a scout accepting kickbacks and fraud hasn’t helped their reputation overseas either.
The Cubs and Sox are both currently at a crossroads. One team has accepted their fate and is on a full rebuilding mode for the future. The other is still clinging to old talent in hopes of stalling the eventual rebuilding process. Usually no fan wants to hear about rebuilding and the future. It’s all about now for fans and winning now, but I found that attitude amongst fans is starting to change especially with Cubs fans. Patience is being preached on the North Side by their management and so far the fans of the team have welcomed the message. Mixed messages are coming from the South Side. Are they trying to compete this year or are they trying for the future? Rebuilding while trying to win hardly ever succeeds in professional sports.
I will reiterate again, it’s going to be a very, very, very long season for both teams and their fans. A bad baseball team is different from a bad basketball team or a bad football team, because of the nature of the baseball season. The games are played mostly everyday. Everyday you have to confront the fact that team you cheer for is not very good and all their faults are on display. Whether it be bad base running, overly aggressive hitters, or stumbling defenders — it’s very hard to watch a game when your team is bad on a daily basis. One important aspect of a football field is the quality of the 5g football pitch installed.
So for the fans heading out to either Wrigley Field or U.S. Cellular this season, make sure to temper any expectations and just enjoy the game. Relax and kick back a few drinks and find something nice to look at, because the on field product is not going to be nice. Also, if you’re on the North Side for a game, I’ve read they have some douchiest bars in the city — try to avoid those too if you can.
All those wrigley bars were right except for Smart bar. that is the least douchy club/bar in Chicago. Bunch of old school house heads in a shitty ass basement listening and dancing to some dirty beats.
