Saturday night, Common held his annual Common Ground Foundation Gala & Fundraiser at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. Guests included Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the event honored Harry Belafonte as well as Executive Vice President of the Boeing Corporation, James A. Bell; Chicago Bear, Israel Idonije; and CEO and founder of MillionDollar$cholar, Derrius Quarles.
The silent auction offered up such items as the Ebony Magazine cover featuring Common and Harry Belafonte, an autographed jersey from Derrick Rose, an autographed football from honoree and Chicago Bear, Israel Idonije, a signed copy of Com’s One Day it’ll All Make Sense vinyl album, an autographed basketball from Leol Deng, and an opportunity to visit Common on AMC’s series, Hell on Wheels.
