FSD: So what’s the title going to be?
Nylo: It’s going to be called 2AM. That’s the name right now. I wrote the intro to it the other day with an artist from LA and I’m ready to let it go.
Right now I kind of like being a mystery because for the most part, unless people have found me on Twitter or on Instagram, they don’t really know who I am. But at the same time, I love videos. I love the art of making videos. But I don’t want to spend a lot of money on just one, I want to release a lot of different videos.
FSD: What about an official album?
Nylo: I’ve always dreamed about releasing an album on my birthday, so I’m hoping to release something on October 5th. That’s my goal. That’s my destination.
FSD: What about the comparisons? I’ve heard everything from “She sounds like Aaliyah” to “She’s the female Frank Ocean.” Are these accurate descriptions?
Nylo: I feel like if I were to think that, I would be thinking so highly of myself, so I’m gonna run with it. As long as people keep telling me that they think I sound like the people I find to be heroes, I’ll just continue to say thanks.
FSD: So the new music…
Nylo: Yeah, at the end of February expect a new song every week. And then expect a Tuesday or Thursday release — every week. You’ll get a taste of everything, and by the time SXSW rolls around you’ll have the whole project.
