Stalley looked to shoot part of the video for “Swangin'” at Massillon, OH’s Washington High this coming weekend, but school officials say that won’t be happening.
Superintendent Rik Goodright said in a prepared statement issued Monday afternoon the district will not permit Stalley to use school property.
Goodright received a request last week to use school facilities for the planned video from a second party representing Stalley.
“As part of the Massillon community, the district appreciates that Kyle Myricks (Stalley) continues to show Massillon pride through his work and frequent visits to his hometown,” Goodright said. “However, because of the nature of some of his lyrics, we feel it is in our best interest to decline the use of our facilities. As a school district, we must think of our students and parents first, many of whom are concerned about student safety. The Massillon City Schools cannot be seen as promoting violence or foul language in any way. Again, we appreciate Kyle’s Massillon pride and wish him future success.”
