Two days ago, we learned that a Louisiana elementary school was under fire for teaching its fourth grade students about Twista and pimps by mentioning Do Or Die and Twista’s “Po Pimp” in reading material given to the students. Fast forward to today and both AK and Belo of Do Or Die have released official statements regarding the outrage.
AK says:
“I am honored and excited that our song is included in the school’s curriculum, music is engaging and should be used as a learning tool. After all, these kids know all the words to these songs maybe now they can find some pleasure in doing their school work”
Hit the jump to see what Belo had to say.
“The word pimp has many meanings at this point. Like many negative words before it, rap music has flipped the meaning. Nowadays you can Pimp a job you can even Pimp your ride”
AK, Belo and Nard have also said that they’re willing to travel to Louisiana and offering to speak with the students, parents and faculty. I don’t know about you, but I would’ve loved to have Do Or Die visit my elementary school.
im glad my child doesnt go to that ghetto ass school
But your child will probably grow up and shoot up the school
