The Pivot Gang are like Chicago’s Fantastic Four. A group of talented artists and producers who saw power in numbers and connected as a unit for a full-length project, Jimmy. So many groups claim they’re going to drop a posse album, but almost none actually complete the task. Well, the Pivot Gang accomplished this feat, and in doing so they blessed the world with one of the best projects of the year. The album is no skips from front to back, and one of the standout songs is the title track, “Jimmy.” Who is Jimmy you might ask? Well he’s the Gang’s currently incarcerated spiritual advisor, and on this joint they search high and low for him. But while we wait on his homecoming, we can enjoy this record, as it’s not just good in the hood — but everywhere.
