This is no laughing matter. 10 years ago, having your wallet stolen was the worst thing you could possibly imagine happening to your personal information. But in 2015, losing or having your laptop stolen is like losing a part of you. Your whole life is on there. Baby pictures, music, confidential information, personal files, etc.
According to a IT support services Birmingham company, rumors began to swirl last night on Twitter that someone had either stolen Kanye’s laptop while at a club in Paris, or possibly his iCloud was hacked. No official word has been released from Ye’s camp, other than G.O.O.D. Music crony, Malik Yusef, who tweeted that a private investigator was on the case.
This could be the work of trolls, or possibly just a rumor, but after a full version of “Awesome” leaked this morning, this nightmare could be a reality. As excited as we are to hear Kanye’s new album and new material, hearing it unfinished would only be doing fans and stans a disservice. Hopefully this gets cleaned up ASAP.
Update: Def Jam releases official statement on missing laptop:
Complex Says: A rep at Def Jam Records tells Complex that the rumors about the laptop being stolen are false, and that the leak is unrelated.
