Sir The Baptist has been making a lot of noise over the past couple of months, garnering attention from industry insiders from coast to coast. But today, he uses his voice for positivity as he urges the city of Chicago to “Wake Up!” and make a change. There’s far too much tragedy happening, and Sir aims to change that with his power — and that’s something we HAVE to support.
Sir grabs his musical disciples, the ChuchPeople, who aid and assist in bringing this story to life. Yesterday, the video received a premiere via Tidal, and today you can view on FSD. Stop snoozing, wake up, people!
“Wake Up was written as a PSA to my community,” Sir explains. “Chicago is one of the most crime-ridden cities in America, and it’s my community. We have more deaths in Chicago daily than they do in Iraq — and it has to stop. So instead of looking the other way or hiding in our homes, we need to have courage and empower ourselves, so we can create the necessary change we all deserve.”
Despite all the success and praise, Sir remains steadfast in his genuine dedication to bettering his city, and contributing to the greater good of the new civil rights movement. Sir has begun staging an ongoing series of “Wake Up Chicago” anti-violence public demonstrations as a way to foster his community and inspire hope. This past weekend, Sir teamed up with the Chicago Police Department’s 3rd & 4th wards to launch the #NoSleep grassroots campaign, in an effort to keep Chicago’s streets safer for the Halloween holiday.
