Hats off to our homie Scheme a.k.a. Navarro, who just wrapped up his first full session of Beats and Bars — his after school program in Little Village at Lawndale High School. Seem put his own career on hold to serve the community and youth of Chicago, by teaching these students about song writing, creation, recording, producing and much more.
Some of the students in Beats and Bars had never written a lyric or bar in their life, but have now completed a full album as well as their debut video for “Who They Wish I Was.” These students worked five days a week for months on the album, so it brings me great joy to deliver their debut video today. The nine-track EP drops on June 14th, and the artwork (which you see above) was handled by Chantala Kommanivanh.
These young men have some talent, so please do yourself a favor and check them out below. Be sure to check back on the 14th for the full album.
