Over the past couple months, Griffen has been dropping new records weekly. He’s literally unloaded dozens of new tracks at this point. It’s hard for me to keep up due to my lack of recent posting, but I just want to acknowledge this before moving forward. I’ve also included a link to his Spotify page below, where you can find a proper collection of everything he’s recently dropped. Get yourself up to date with all things Griff now.
Today, however, he impacts in a major way by bringing E.C. Illa out of retirement for a feature on his new joint “Beautiful (I Used to Love H.E.R. Pt. 2)” — a nod to Common’s 1994 classic. Now, getting E.C. on a track is very rare these days. You’ll remember he jumped on Vic Spencer’s album back in 2016, so to my knowledge this is his first new appearance since (don’t hate me if I’m wrong). Either way, this track is a breath of fresh air and a nod to arguably Chicago’s greatest rap song ever. Hey, I still love H.E.R. — and that probably will never change. Glad to hear these two on a track together. Is there more on the way? We shall see.
