While most know Race Bannon of The Primeridian as just a rapper, only a few select individuals know he’s also a beast on the beats. He’s laced the likes of Pugs Atomz and Rashid Hadee (most notably “Coolest Dudes”), and today, per the recommendation of Hadee, he’s unleashing his first beat tape: NASCAR Race Tracks. Get it? I know you see that synergy in the title.
It’s 14 of his most recent concoctions, so hit the jump to check them out. Drive
slow fast, homie.
Directed and Filmed by Dave Galaxie
Man, this one is kinda complicated, so I’m going to pass the mic to Race and let him explain:
After 3 tours in the United States military, Capt. Richard Phelix finds himself back home making the difficult task of adjusting to civilian life. Capt. Phelix, a 7 year EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Specialist has seen his share of near death encounters and watched first hand several members of his platoon lose their lives. One of the most dangerous jobs as a soldier, the stress and long term psychological effects can be traumatic. After being diagnosed with PTSD, we find Capt. Phelix riding the daily roller coaster of one war he may never win.
Directed by Kevin Edward Epperson

I know what you’re thinking: this is one random as lineup. And you know what? It is. But who cares, listen up as it’s a dope dedication to the late great Donald Byrd. This song is off of Rkitech’’s debut album The Anti-Skinny Jeans LP, which is due out in late April 2013
Simeon and Race head overseas to link with German DJ, Adlib, for the remix of “Wine,” which also features STL’s Black Spade. Details? You want details?
DJ Adlib out of Germany along with TBRCK comes with a remix to the
song “Wine” featuring Black Spade and The Primeridian. This is off
the upcoming release of “Tofu and Alter” dropping on Feb. 8th.
Tofu is the white cat on the front cover, Alter is the spotty one on
the back. Both share their crib with DJ Adlib who assembles six
remixes by Dexter, James Pants, Julian Dyne, TBRCK, Danny Breaks and
Adlib himself. The EP features Declaime, Black Spade, Frank Nitt,
The Primeridian, Planet Asia and Adi Dick on vocals. Robert Winter did
the photos and Chicken George the artwork.

Directed by the students from Curie’s Broadcast Technology program, who’ve been hard at work lately. Gotta show the students some love on here, as they’ve created a super official video for The PM and Tall Black Guy.
Here are the students who put the video together: Nicolas Ayala, Karina Bunedia, Bianca Burgos, Francisco Espinoza, Erick Gonzalez, Andrew Rodriguez, Jenna Stover. Clap for ‘em.
In honor of what would’ve been J Dilla’s 38th birthday, The Primeridian drop their Dilla-dedicated What If Jay Dee produced PCP? project, where they revisit many of Mr. Yancey’s best and brightest productions.
And I guess this is as good of time as any to plug my ‘The 50 Best Dilla Songs‘ piece I did for Complex Mag. I take a look back at 50 records he had a hand in, and share my thoughts–a must read for any real fan of Dilla Dog. Check it here.
