Alderman Proco Joe Moreno Calls Into The Morning Riot

Posted on April 19, 2012 by Andrew Barber

This morning, 1st Ward Alderman, Proco Joe Moreno, called into WGCI’s The Morning Riot to speak with Tony Sco, Leon Rogers and I about his ongoing feud with the Congress Theater, and his profiling of rapper, Chief Keef.

We hear Proco’s side of the story as he explains why he thinks Keef is a threat and his beef the the Congress. The Alderman claims he’s a hip-hop fan, and he isn’t singling out rap shows — he has all shows in his crosshairs.

In case you’re late on the issue, you can get the back story here and here.

This is what I tweeted to the Alderman yesterday.

@alderman_moreno Sir, your letter to your constituents is a quintessential example of the vilification of African American youth and the denigration of Hip Hop culture due to the fact that it is a distinctively African American cultural form.

After listening to his response, I stand by my tweet. I wonder if he would have sent a similar letter to his constituents if George Clooney or Al Pacino was at the Congress. Clooney has promoted violence in a number of his movies and was recently arrested.

The only thing that offends me is the instrumental playing the entire time.

Hahaha! Joe Moreno just outed himself as a racist. Did you see how this boy paused about the electronic show? He’s gone to other venues and he knows the Chicago scene. He knows people do drugs everywhere and he knows people get drunk. Why is he targeting this specific show?

The judge said it was ok for Keef to play! Moreno thinks he got more of a precedent to make decisions over people than the American judicial system.

It’s not racist to want to shut down Chief Keef. Keef does not represent anything that is “black”. His promotion of stupidity and criminality is not “black”. It’s not like Moreno wrote a letter against Pharoah Monch or something. Chief Keef is dumb, is on probation, and does promote a bottom feeder lifestyle of banging hoes, smoking blunts, and popping pistols. You might like his “music” but that doesn’t change the fact he’s a pure piece of shit. That is a fact. If you disagree let him marry your sister or watch your kids and house while you’re on vacation. Good luck with that.

It’s not when you’re doing it to everyone else…

but it is when you’re targeting the one black kid whose lyrics are just as “bad” as a punk and metal bands who have played in the congress. As far as promoting “bottom feeding” behavior goes, Chief Keef promotes it as much as video games promote gun violence.

I’ve been to raves, dubstep, and electric music concerts at the congress and the people there are always pushy about doing x and all other sorts of drugs. Moreno knows this! He’s racist for targeting black folk to incite fear so he can seem like a hero.
