On the play before Rose fell and tore his ACL, I was wondering why Rose was in the game. I think that every time the Bulls have the lead and the game is well in hand. Especially this year since Rose was plagued with several injuries. He needs to be put out of harm’s way, when given the chance. Coach Thibodeau should have been extremely careful with his best player and yes, that means taking him out with a minute-and-a-half left with a twelve point lead. It was a home game and there was no way the Sixers were coming back. However, all of the blame shouldn’t fall to Coach Thibodeau, because it was a fluke injury. But he’s been playing with fire the past two years with his star players playing garbage minutes at the end of games. He finally got burned.
It’s more than just the Bulls opportunity for a championship suddenly disappearing that hurts. It’s about D. Rose the person that people feel so depressed about. He means so much to the city. I don’t think there’s a more beloved athlete or person in Chicago than Derrick Rose. People are just starting to warm up to Bears QB Jay Cutler, but he will never garner the admiration of Rose. There’s no Chicago baseball player that brings the city together, and there’s no one on the Hawks that excites the casual fan. Other Chicago residents such as President Obama and Kanye West are polarizing figures for a variety of reasons. Derrick Rose is someone who everyone can agree on, that everyone in the city wants to see succeed. Not just for the team he plays for, but for himself. He represents the best of the city.
The long-term future of the Bulls and Derrick Rose is also in the air. Will he ever come back to being the player that we’re used to seeing? Will he able to explode to the basket and twist and maneuver his body around the rim? Will he lose the top flight speed that makes him so deadly against defenders? All those questions and more are left to be answered. Those questions cast doubt if the Bulls will ever win a championship with Rose, because they need him to be every single percent of the MVP that he’s capable of being, which is now in doubt. The Bulls have to figure out how to give him some more help and lessen the scoring responsibility he holds. He can’t be the main scorer and facilitator on the team in the future. He needed help before his injuries and he needs it now more than ever.
At least we have that “I Don’t Like” Remix to listen to. Oh wait, we don’t have that either right now. Just like we don’t have Derrick Rose right now.
didn’t they beat the heat in the season without d rose though? i mean it’s not impossible, the chances are just down now that d rose is out.
Yes they can beat any team with Rose, the question is winning a series! Awesome Article. We got a good team and we will support either way! Let’s go Bulls!
Playoffs are a different animal my friends… No doubt we still got a good squad and a very deep and healthy bench but D.Rose man… We need him to get out of the east no doubt. LETS.GO.BULLS!!!
The FSD staff are just a bunch of band wagon bulls fans? Why am I not surprised. This team didn’t become the #1 seed because of D Rose. They became top seed because of their defense. I’m still behind my Bulls 100%. I bet you doubters are the same cats that suddenly became Hockey Fans after the Black Hawks won the championship. Only to give up on them after a couple years. A real fan stands behind their squad when the chips are down, not just when liking that team becomes the hollywood thing to like.
