FSD: Speaking of your style, do you feel like your tailored format is heavily influenced amongst other Chicago directors?
Zae: I would say yeah, because I have numerous people who just started, that tweet me saying I’m the reason they shoot videos now. I didn’t see it for myself, until people told me that they look up to me. So it made me think “Man I guess my work really does have an impact!”
FSD: How are you dealing with your new fame?
Zae: I mean, it’s more attention, but I haven’t changed. When I go places, people are like “Hey aren’t you Zae?” But as far as my lifestyle, I’m doing the same thing but with a little more bread.
FSD: With you having such a high-profile now, will you be selective on which artists you work with?
Zae: It’s not too much, but as long as you have good quality music, I will work with you. It doesn’t matter who you are. If it’s something you recorded in your bathroom then it’s not going to work. If you have good music I’m going to rock with you. I shoot videos for people I don’t know all the time.
FSD: What’s next for you?
Zae: Right now, I’m doing a bunch of stuff for Wooh Da Kid, Chief Keef, and Lil Reese.
I’m not tryin to hate on dude, but everyone now a days think they can film. Just bc pple go pick up a canon 7d and shoot, everyone think they can be a director. I guarantee if you ask any wannabe “director” in the city about their composition of shots and/or frame rate, iso, lighting etc, none of these dudes would have a clue.
