The Top 10 Headlines of 2012 (So Far)

Posted on July 20, 2012 by FSD Staff

7. Lupe has a Fiasco with Pete Rock

[Original Story]

Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s iconic “T.R.O.Y.” has influenced thousands of fans and aspiring rappers over the past 20 years — and one of those rappers was Chicago’s own Lupe Fiasco. Lupe issued his own 2012 remake, that was a solid follow-up to the classic original. Even though the song was released to positive reviews, it did rub one person the wrong way — that being the creator, Pete Rock.

The Soul Brother #1 was approached by Lupe’s team months prior, and Pete gave Lu the green light to remake the record. Having a change of heart, Pete took his frustration to social media to express his distaste. Let’s just hope for the sake of Hip-Hop, they can come to an agreement, and release some dope material in the future.

Young Pork Chop at number 1? Nobody cares about his same beat generic soundin ass. At least have Keef’s deal at #1.
