Spaceghostpurrp has apparently been sending you DMs. Are you familiar with Raider Klan?
The name sounds so familiar.
Some might say you’re on the verge of mainstream, pop-star recognition. What do you think it would take for you to get on that level, and do you see it happening?
I definitely expect it to happen. It will happen. I think it would take me continuing to make different music. A lot of people want me to stay with the drill music, and like, I rock with it to a certain extent but I like making different music, like I’m getting into pop music now. I’m actually writing to this pop beat that my producer sent me. It’s super dope, I’m so excited to record it and get that out. I would just take me continuing to make different and cold music. A lot different people hit me up on twitter and salute me and show me love, it makes me feel good, it’s motivation.
Well you’ve been talking to Azealia Banks, she’s pretty pop.
I rock with her. I really do like her, because her music is different. How she approaches herself and how she puts herself out there with her music, it’s different. It’s not the same music you hear every day. I salute her for that. And I relate to her, I like making different music, doing things that make me stand out. I salute her for that.
Are you already working on a new project? If so, what kinds of collaborations can we expect to see on it?
Yeah, my next mixtape is called Round 3. It’s dropping early 2013. Freddie Gibbs and I have a track on there, it’s gonna be crazy, super dope.
Your music has a running consistency of hard lyrics but also addresses more sensitive topics like love and real-life relationship issues. Do you feel that it is possible to maintain both of these elements of your work or do you feel yourself leaning toward one of those styles?
I think it’s possible to keep doing what I been doing. I only can get better. Just continue to make different music, make my flow come hard. Be me, that’s the main key, just be myself. And when I rap, as far as the love stuff, I sound hard in the love songs. It’s real. I got my heart broken before, feel me? That’s real, everything real. I just put real situations I been through and other people been through in the songs. That makes them feel it.
Do you have any final words for Fake Shore Drive readers?
I just want to shout-out to you, Andrew, and everyone that’s rocking with me and supporting my movement. Things just really finna turn up. 2013 definitely is the year. I just want to shout-out to you guys for even doing this interview with me.
I hope to see you on TV soon.
Yeah, you will.
