5. Dreezy & Mikey Dollaz – Business & Pleasure
[Download]
Dreezy and Mikey Dollaz took part in the Chicago trend of rapping couples releasing collaborative mixtapes this year (they were preceded by I.L Will and Sasha Go Hard — I.L ironically enough, is part of Mikey’s M.I.C. crew). A young couple releasing a mixtape together? That sounds problematic from jump street, no? Hell, Bobby and Whitney couldn’t do it and they were married and had millions of bucks and handlers trying to cash in. Dreezy and Mikey put it together, though. Call it young love on wax.
We’re not sure if they’re still together or not, but for this period in time their love bleed through in the music. Some may have found the concept of a rapping couple a bit hokey, but their monstrous “Break A Band” is undeniably one of the years best tracks. The chemistry was evident and the project worked. However, it’s untold how many lovers quarrels resulted from Business & Pleasure. We will ever see a part two? Only time will tell.
