Bebe O’hare is a 25-year-old sweetheart hailing from the Southside of Chicago. The Columbia College graduate and rapper has been making noise in the city and has recently dropped her debut mix tape Fashionably Late with features from BJ the Chicago Kid, Chevy Woods and Wiz Khalifa.
With only three years of rhyming under her belt, Bebe reveals that her skills came naturally. “It happened over a Christmas break, my brother and I were messing around with instrumentals on YouTube and I started rapping over them, we uploaded those freestyles to Facebook and people just wanted more” says Bebe. The rapper once had dreams of being in the NBA (not the WNBA) and attended college for graphic design. She began to take her music career more seriously after a high school friend started interning at Atlantic records, and introduced her to her current management team at Latchkey Entertainment. Her manager connected her with a few people in LA who believed in her as well: “My manager told me I couldn’t meet Wiz until I was ready and I felt the same way” says Bebe. “When I met him he was so down to earth, I played some of my records for him and a good track came out as the result” explains Bebe referring to her collab with Wiz, “Southside”.
Bebe’s debut project, Fashionably Late was a year in the making, and is something everyone can appreciate thanks to her crossover sensibilities; including hooks from BJ the Chicago Kid, production from The Futuristiks and Midi Mafia — including a Jodeci sample on the track “Roll Wit Me.” She mentions having hopes of working with hometown producers like Thelonious Martin and C-Sick. Bebe is really big on keeping the Chicago influence strong in her music, and she feels no one can help her keep her Chicago sound alive more than a Chicago producer.
