4. Tree – MC TREE EP
Year in and year out, Tree finds himself atop this list. He’s earned the distinction of the most consistent rapper in the city of Chicago — and is now making a case for taking that title nationwide. For the Tree EP, he partnered with auto brand Scion to bring us some fresh sounds to kick off the year. It seemingly came out of nowhere, but leave it up to Tree to drop something without warning, and it still sounds like he’d spent years carefully crafting it.
Individuality is something that’s truly missed in music in 2014, but people like Tree continue to hold the torch and push the boundaries. Thank this man for impressing with every release, while never switching up or compromising his sound.
