14. Alex Wiley – Village Party
Alex Wiley’s profile has risen significantly over the course of the past year — and rightfully so — as he’s one of the hardest working artists on the Chicago scene. In a crowded market, it’s become more and more difficult to breakthrough to the masses, but Alex’s unique flow and entertaining character has helped him become one of the more lauded new artists in all of rap.
If Club Wiley was the pre-game soiree, then Village Party is the Project X end of the world blower. The album was light on guest features, but any time Alex shared the mic with a colleague, he completely outgunned them. His hunger for more bleeds through each and every track, and by the time this list drops next year who knows how big Wiley will be?
