I’ve heard you basically live in the studio, and you say you made 40 tracks over the course of six months. When distilling everything for the final cut of the project, what kind of standard did you set, and how did you handle editing?
The standard kind of sets itself. Me and Flight, especially me, I don’t go into anything with expectations. I just try to hold up my end. Everything is damn near a try. A risk, an experiment. I never wanna play it safe. Like I said in another song, I don’t feel like I have a niche, so I try to go into everything openminded. I don’t know man, that’s just how I am.
You’ve gotten a bit more experimental on this project. What songs stick out in that regard?
A song like “Denial”, I never would’ve tried that a couple of years ago. Making a project this diverse, with some hip-hop records, some R&B-esque records, wavy dance records, all on one project. I’ve never just gone in the booth and freestyled. Everything felt so carefree. And that’s kind of helped me with this next process as far as making projects that follow up after this. Because this isn’t my “Acid Rap”. This is just the beginning of something crazy.
So what is coming next exactly?
Just some crazy ass music. I don’t even know how to explain it. Shit people have not seen from me. Stuff I’ve purposefully strayed away from in the past. So I think these next couple projects we got planned, you’re gonna see me step out of my comfort zone. It’s an experience.
