FSD: How’s it been for you since the video dropped?
Nem: Aw man, it’s been great. A lot of people have been hitting me up on Twitter. I don’t know if that means anything.
FSD: Trust me. That means everything in this day and age. The thirst is real.
Nem: (Laughs) Yeah I got like thirty new followers and a bunch of random people hitting me up and on Facebook I got the most likes on anything that I’ve ever put up. So I guess that’s kind of good. Ya know? It’s hard to judge it from where I’m standing, but so far I haven’t heard anything bad so that’s good.
FSD: Well, I hate to be one of those random people or lurking creeps on the Internet, but I’ve been following your work for a while. I’ve seen you’ve done a lot of work with Ends/Wealth Corp. How’d you link up with that brand?
Nem: Yeah I’ve done a lot of work with Ends/Wealth and recently ILLROOTS too. Guys like Brandon (Brandon Breaux), Waxx (Mike Maxx), and Carson (Mike Carson) those are all my homies.
FSD: How’d you get introduced to the streetwear and blogging worlds?
Nem: Parties. I would go to parties and meet people and once you meet one person and see them again and talk to them you get to know them better. I actually met up with Brandon from Ends/Wealth because I saw his stuff online and I was so impressed and thought to myself ‘Wow. This guy is really good. I’ve got to link up with him.’ After that we met up at Starbucks or something and we’ve been good friends and working together ever since.
FSD: Do you have any plans to work with any other designers or brands in the near future?
Nem: Nah, not really. Just Ends/Wealth for right now. We’re always passing ideas back and forth and try to make most of them happen, but some are so ambitious and we can only get so much done.
FSD: What’s the creative process like for you?
Nem: I try to be as detailed as possible. Coming from an advertising background, we always planned everything out and everything had structure. You had a designer, then you had an art director, creative director and things like that. I start by writing a script and then from the script I do a storyboard. For music videos I cut the video with images from the storyboard to the song. Sometimes I’ll shoot some stuff before I actually do the real shoot and then we shoot the final one and then I do all the post production afterwards.
