10. Mic Terror – Cold As Hell (2007) / Porno Movies (2007)
Interestingly enough, the Treated Crew began making noise just as FSD was born. Mano (then Million $ Mano), Hollywood Holt and Mic Terror were staples on the emerging new scene in the city, and brought a breath of fresh air to the game. They weren’t backpack. They weren’t gangsters. They were something different — something unlike the rest of the pack.
Mic’s “Cold As Hell” video predates Fake Shore Drive by two months, and was directed by some other new kids on the block, Da Visionaryz. Da Visionaryz would go on to craft masterpieces for the likes of L.E.P. Bogus Boys, Spenzo, Kid Ink and Twista, but were brand new to the biz at this point in ’07. They did a great job bringing Mic’s unique style (ahem, the flattop before they were cool again) and his braggadocios bars and no nonsense demeanor to life. For many, this was the first time seeing the emcee, as straight-to-YouTube videos were still very new and primitive at the time.
So for #10, we’ve included two videos, as Mic’s “Porno Movies” clip was also a very important song and video at the time. The track was a bit risque and offensive — but that’s what we love about the Terrorist. The visual is a must-see as it highlights the fashion style at the time, and just how important Leaders’ Wicker Park location was at that moment.
