6. Mic Terror – Lesson C (2008)
Unless you were on rap blogs back in ’08, you might’ve been amiss of the Mic Terror vs. Mazzi rap beef. Thinking back now, this was one of the first rap beefs to spill on to YouTube, where the artists were not only making response songs, but also response videos. That was some very new and innovative shit back then.
Back in 08, Mazzi of NYC collective, S.O.U.L. Purpose, took offense to “hipster” rappers wearing keffiyeh scarves, which he felt disrespected his Muslim religion. He lashed out at rappers like The Cool Kids and Jay Electronica on “Lesson A” dissing the artists for repping something they knew nothing of. Mic T felt some type of way about Mazzi dissing his friends, so he retaliated with the clever “Lesson C” video, which once the pictures surfaced ignited a shit storm between he and Mazzi.
The battle on wax was one of the more entertaining beefs of recent memory, and the two went back and forth numerous times — spurring hilarious responses, tracks and videos. Also, this all existed pre-Twitter. The two ended up squashing their differences years ago, and we even spoke to Mazzi about it a few months back in the Def Jam offices in NYC. Alls well that ends well.
