10. Mic Terror – Live From Your Mama’s House EP
For years, I’ve wondered why more Chicago rappers haven’t incorporated house or footwork elements into their music. Seems like a no-brainer, right? However, surprisingly enough, the blending of the two genres has always been scarce.
But one crew finally set out to accomplish this task, and actually had the chops to pull it off in an unforced and authentic manner – and that’s the Treated Crew. For what seemed like a long time coming, the Treated Tribe joined forces with their extended family, TekLife, to give us the Live From Your Mama’s House EP, showcasing the rapping talents of Mic Terror, with backing beats from both camps.
Tek and Treated have a rich history together, and in the wake of DJ Rashad’s passing it only seemed right that they give the world something special. The result was some of dopest genre-bending jams of the year. Live From Your Mama’s House is a unique piece of art, that can’t be labeled or put in any box – but it makes for an enjoyable listen – one that can slap at juke parties or the clubs. Yes, your Mama’s house is jammin’ and so was this EP.
