4. Ty Money – Cinco De Money
Ty Money is quite possibly the best bar-for-bar rapper you’ve never heard. Sure, he’s been creeping around Chicago’s underground for the past few years, and has snagged cosigns from everyone from TI to Waka Flocka. But Cinco De Money when people really started paying attention and noticed that, hey, this kid can rap his ass off.
Seriously. It’s one of the best lyrical displays of the year across any genre. Ty is kicking that street shit, but his verbal acrobatics will appease even the staunchest backpacker. His words paint vivid pictures, and storytelling is on some 2015 fresh-off-the-block Shakespeare type of steez. In an era where lyrics take a backseat, Ty’s laser focused approach is refreshing.
The best part? Ty claims most of these records are just throwaways. If that’s the case (we disagree there), then we’re in for a real treat when the actual album impacts.
