9. Tree – TrapGenius
The project, which Tree has said was the result of a dare to do trap music, is another solid effort from the Soul Trap creator and one of the best bodies of work to be shared this year. The creator of ‘soul trap’ opting for trap? Genius.
Tree didn’t flex his production skills on Trap Genius, but decided to let Xcel, Blue Sky Black Death and more provide the canvas for his raspy flow to paint on. The end result is a tough, raw project from MC Tree and one that you should’ve heard by now. If you haven’t, shame on you.
